Welcome to the ‘Relais de la Renaissance’, an old ‘maison bourgeoise’ in the centre of Saint Michel de Montaigne, a small hamlet in the Dordogne region. This part of the house has been tastefully converted into 4 entirely self-contained duplex apartments, each of which can cater up to 4 people.
In apartment 1, there is a cosy living and dining area downstairs, including a small kitchenette equipped with the main essentials, plus a shower room with washbasin and toilet. There is direct access to the outside terrace, garden and pool from the living area.
Then upstairs there is 1 large double bedroom with a double bed and wardrobe, 1 single bedroom with a single bed and wardrobe, plus the option of a futon mattress on the floor of either room for a 4th person, if required.
We tried to create comfortable ‘chill out’ apartments, each with beautiful chestnut parquet flooring upstairs and terracotta tiles (with under floor heating when needed) downstairs. A lot of care and attention has been given to the furnishing and decor of each apartment, which makes each one totally unique. There is a combination of exquisitely hand painted Bavarian wooden furniture, plus wooden statues, textiles and masks from Mali in Africa, alongside eclectic pieces collected from local French flea markets.
